Mad for Movies

Are you mad for movies? Well, it’s time to get your popcorn and soda, because whether you are into thriller, action, comedy or even some spooky horror to get you shivering behind your blanket, you are going to crazy for our must-see top five movies.

The Godfather

Ok, there is no need to even debate about this one. I’m going to make you an offer you can’t refuse… Yes, it’s “The Godfather”. It always has and probably always will be the top movie of all time. With first class actors like Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, this movie made it to number one as the highest grossing film of 1972. Until today it has grossed around 268.5 million dollars and can you believe it only cost 7 million dollars to produce it? What a profit! Don’t forget that this movie is rated a 16+ movie. So, if you are over 16 and haven’t seen it yet, then start watching. You wouldn’t want to be sleeping with the fishes now, would you?

The Shawshank Redemption

Common decency goes a long way in Frank Darabont’s “Shawshank Redemption“. Although the movie didn’t win at the Academy Awards, it was nominated 7 times for it and has made around 80 million dollars in sales. This movie shows us drama, happiness, sadness and comedy all in one movie. So, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I’m preparing you from now – Get ready to laugh, wonder, worry and of course…get ready to turn those waterworks on.

The Wizard of Oz

In third place, we take a little trip down the yellow brick road to find the wizard – Or to be more specific, to find the “Wizard of Oz”. It premiered in 1939, but don’t think for a second that because it’s old, it’s not worth watching – there is a reason that this movie won two Oscars and 7 other awards. It is entertaining for the whole family and will take you all on a magical adventure into the land of OZ.

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises

Why so serious? Coming in fourth place is the one and only “Batman: The Dark Knight”. With stunning effects and a great performance by Christian Bale as the heroic Batman and Heath Ledger as the crazed Joker, this Batman movie is truly one of a kind. It not only won 2 Oscars and another whopping 151 awards, but also made a worldwide total earning of over $1 billion dollars!

Jaws

Watch out next time you go swimming, because ending our top five in fifth place is “Jaws” –the movie that shocked the world and made its viewers think twice before going into the ocean again. This thriller film reeled in $400 million dollars and won 3 Oscars to go with it. Brace yourself when watching! You never know when Jaws will appear.
