How Do I Make My Travels “Greener”?

I love traveling! Nothing makes me happier than friends inviting me to go for a hike to a beautiful lookout, sleeping in a campsite or just knowing I have a trip planned in the near future. With that said, apart from my love of traveling, I don’t forget my love of the nature around me and I make it a priority.

So how do I make my trips “green” (environmentally friendly)? I try and spend as many days as possible in nature and not in the city. Outdoors I cook my own food and eat with reusable plates and cutlery.

One of the best ways to reduce plastic use in your everyday life, and not only when you hike, is a reusable bottle. When you carry around your personal bottle, you don’t only “go green”, you also remember to drink more water and you have another fashionable item to add to your look.

Talking about reusable items, I always carry with me reusable bags. They’re great for replacing the plastic bags that are given in shops.

When I want to go to a new place, to reduce potential air pollution, I prefer taking public transportation or even better – walking!

Last but not least, just so you’ll know, most of the time, traveling “green” is cheaper than a “regular” trip. Not only does it help you save money, you can invest that money in your next “green” trip 😉
