[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Are you looking to get a pet to join your family?

If so, the question is: to buy or to adopt?

Well, adoption is the better choice by far, and I’m going to tell you why.

According to PETA, the largest animal rights organization in the world, there are more than six million dogs and cats that enter animal shelters every year. So why buy when there are so many that need homes for free? Plus, by buying, you are supporting establishments that breed animals intensively; sometimes to a point where it’s inhumane and animals are forced to have many litters of puppies or kittens.

Additionally, pets that are adopted have usually gone through some form of abuse whether physical or by being abandoned in the middle of the street. So you will basically be saving a life, and there is no better feeling than that!

Many people have spoken out against animal cruelty around the world and have adopted pets of their own, and the celebrities we all know and love have too.

Who doesn’t know the toughest “America’s Got Talent” and “The X Factor” judge, Simon Cowell? He might be mean on camera, but turns out he has a soft side to him – animals. He claimed the Yulin Dog Festival is “barbaric” and has urged all his Twitter followers (which add up to 12.1 million) to sign the petition against it. The notorious Yulin Dog Festival is held annually, where dogs are taken from the street or even kidnapped from their owners, to be killed, cooked and sold to customers. Approximately ten thousand dogs are killed annually to continue the Chinese tradition. If you want to help end this horrific act of cruelty, sign an anonymous petition that will help save animals’ lives in China, or if you are feeling extra generous, you can donate money towards the cause.

Some of you might know Ian Somerhalder, “The Vampire Diaries” star, who is known to be a true friend of our planet’s creatures. So much so, that he has founded his own foundation called “The Ian Somerhalder Foundation”; which is all about how projects and people can positively impact the planet we live in and the creatures which live here too. Being pro adoption, Somerhalder and his wife have adopted nine pets, including 2 horses!

But unfortunately, according to ASPCA, too many people are still NOT adopting animals. So if you are feeling up to adopting and saving a life, then why not take this adoption quiz to see if you are ready to adopt a fuzzy friend of your own!
