Staying Safe Abroad

If you plan on going abroad with a few friends to celebrate finishing high school, then here are a few tips to keep you safe on your trip.

Avoid places which seem dark and non-touristy. You don’t know what kind of people might be there. And if you are walking alone at night, make sure to walk close to other people. You don’t want to be spotted by weirdos as a tourist walking alone at night (the perfect situation for a crime). If you feel as though someone is following you, stay away from your hotel. You don’t want to be leading them to where you are staying. Stop in another hotel even, or ask a security guard in the area for help.

When you arrive at a party or club, don’t leave your drink alone at any time. It takes a matter of milliseconds for someone to spike your drink. Don’t forget to keep your belongings safe at all times.

Wearing your back pack in the front is a great way to keep an eye on it; if you are travelling with a handbag, then make sure to keep it closed at all times; you can even put all your belongings in a plastic before putting it in your handbag. This will make stealing a hard crime to accomplish.
