Did you Know you Can Drink your Plants?

What’s a winter holiday without some delicious winter drinks to go with it? These top five hot winter drinks are also vegan friendly so that anybody can enjoy them. Even if you aren’t vegan, don’t be fooled – these plant-based drinks are so delicious, they will have your friends begging you to make more!

Hot Chocolate and Peppermint

Number one on our list is hot chocolate and peppermint. Who doesn’t like chocolate? And the peppermint gives it that extra spiciness that makes it so special. All you need is: 2 cups of coconut milk, 400 grams of dark chocolate, quarter of a teaspoon of peppermint extract and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Once you’re your ingredients are on the table, pour the milk in a saucepan and once hot, chuck in the chocolate and sugar. Then, when it’s at the temperature you like, take it off the heat and add the peppermint extract. And that’s it! Can you believe that all this drink needs is 4 ingredients?

London Fog

Next drink in line this winter is the one and only “London Fog”. The British are famous for their teas and they do enjoy them whenever possible (not only at 4pm — teatime). For this, all you need to do is put an Earl Grey teabag in half a mug of hot water and add hot non-dairy milk to it. And if you want to make it even more special, add some drops of vanilla extract and you are good to go.

Go Nuts for Coconuts!

I am a sucker for coconut and this drink is every coconut lover’s dream. All you need is a cup of coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of coconut extract and half a cup of water. Heat the coconut milk and water, add the sugar and the extract and make sure to mix well. That’s it, simple, no? Although, I would always go the extra mile and make a delicious topping of coconut whipped cream and sprinkle some…..you guessed it, coconut!

Pumpkin-Spiced Latte

Any drink that is pumpkin-based tells you that winter is coming. So why not try to make a pumpkin spiced latte this winter. It’s very simple and you don’t even need a saucepan. Just put a dollop of pumpkin syrup in your favourite mug and then pour an espresso shot. Next, pour some almond milk and then last but not least, top it off with some more pumpkin spice syrup. Enjoy!

Chai Latte

Last drink to warm up your winter is the famous Chai Latte. Now, although this drink originated in India, it has made it all over the world and everyone is going crazy for it. You will need 200ml of non-dairy milk, 200ml of hot water, some cinnamon and a chai teabag. Put the teabag in the hot water and let it infuse for around 15 minutes, then take the teabag out and pour the hot non-dairy milk with the water. Finally, sprinkle some cinnamon and enjoy!
